Renault Sport has chosen the UHP Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tyre in 235/35 R19 format as original equipment for Mégane R.S. Trophy. On 17th June 2011, on the legendary Nürburgring circuit, and more specifically on the Nordschleife (northern loop), Renault Mégane R.S. Trophy set a new lap record in the front-wheel drive category, where cars must conform strictly to production specifications.
By setting a lap time of 8′ 08″, Mégane R.S. Trophy beat the record held since 2008 by Mégane R26.R, which was 8′ 17″.
